We’re a full-service design and construction outfit, specialising in new residential homes. Our portfolio extends to renovations, extensions, refurbishments and forever homes. Of course, there are a lot of builders out there who break your budget, over-promise and under-deliver. So what makes Steele Design & Build different?
For one thing, we listen. We listen to understand your problem - tell us and show us what makes you tick and what turns you off. We want to uncover the narratives and stories of your family and surroundings. Once we understand the cultural and social context, our team of designers and chippies can craft a home to tailor your lifestyle.
How we do things is more important than what we do. Steele Design & Build is a small and tight-knit team that values transparency, honesty and responsibility. We’re an approachable bunch and we love working with clients who ask questions, are open-minded and willing to take the plunge.
Based in Trentham, VIC, we love working close to home getting to know our patch, but our projects still take us all over narrow blocks of Melbourne, up inconvenient slopes hidden along forest trails in regional Victoria and navigating tricky inner-city heritage overlays.

GREG STEELE
Greg is the founding Director of Steele Design & Build. With three decades of experience across a diverse range of sectors, he offers his construction knowledge to any project.
He has a strong commercial mind, encourages balanced risk-taking and continually strives to translate design solutions into return on investment. He maintains focus on the big picture while approaching each project in a thoughtful manner.
In his downtime, Greg enjoys soaking up the fresh country air with a soy chai latte in hand.
ANTHONY CASTELLETTO
Always up for a challenge, Anthony stays true to the design vision and maintains every detail of the design, juggling several projects at a time. Nothing gets past him. He constantly reviews every activity and reports back with open communication to all the team members which is essential for delivering projects on time, on budget and beyond the client’s expectation.
He oversees each stage of the project from construction documentation packages; coordinating details and designs with builders and consultants, and you’ll find him bouncing between projects under construction. He brings an emotionally intelligent, calming yet methodical approach to the construction site whilst his humour and enthusiasm livens up any grey-skied day.
BRIAN COLE
Brian is the kind of guy you want on-site when things get tricky, timelines get tricky, timelines get tight, or someone’s lost the plans again. As a seasoned carpenter, project and construction manager, he’s known for keeping cool under pressure, solving problems on the fly, and somehow making it look easy.
With 20+ years in the industry and a long list of successful residential projects behind him, Brian blends technical know-how with a genuinely personable style. Clients trust him, tradies respect him, and the local cafes knows his coffee order by heart.
As Co-Director, he’s all about clear communication, smart solutions, and delivering homes people are proud to live in.
CLINTON STEELE
Strategic thinking underpins every design Clint works on. As SDB’s architect, he doesn’t believe in doing things for the sake of it and will honestly tell you if he thinks something can be done better (in a nice way of course). Architecture is responsive and reflective of place and he can quickly sketch out details and see possibilities that the common eye overlook.
Clint draws his inspiration from the curiosity of the every day, endlessly questioning how and why rather than what, delivering richer, deeper outcomes. He has a real knack for good design that comes from listening to the small, considered moments that make every day special. His emphasis is on using less with high-quality materials, maximising every square metre in terms of efficiency, spatial qualities and serving multiple purposes.
